Google Ads consultant in Sydney, measured on real customers

An account can report cheap conversions while the phone stays quiet. I'm a Google Ads consultant in Sydney, in paid media since 2019, and I start with what your campaigns are being told to chase.

Where the budget usually leaks

Most wasted spend traces back to a short list of causes, and Google now gives you reports and controls for each one:

  • Brand searches you would have won anyway
  • A conversion goal that rewards cheap, weak leads
  • Spend drifting to low-intent channels
  • Paid clicks landing on pages that can't convert
  • Search terms no customer of yours would type

Who it's a good fit for

It's usually a good fit if:

  • You're spending on Google Ads and can't tell what it's bringing in
  • Your reported conversions don't match the enquiries you see
  • You want to scale without losing your return

It's usually not the right move if:

  • You can't yet say what a good lead is worth to you
  • Your budget can't produce enough data to learn from
  • You want one freelancer doing every task personally

Why good numbers can still lose money

Smart Bidding produces more of whatever you count as a conversion. If a page view, a newsletter sign-up and a real enquiry are all primary goals, the campaign learns to buy the cheapest one. It's doing its job. The job was specified badly, so that's where we look first.

What we work on

  • Conversion goals that describe a real lead or sale
  • Search campaign and account structure
  • Performance Max audits, including brand exclusions and URL rules
  • Search terms reviews and negative keywords
  • Budget decisions across campaigns
  • Reporting tied to enquiries and sales

How it runs

  1. AuditCheck goals, tracking, search terms and where the budget actually went.
  2. Fix the inputsClean up conversion goals, then the structure and pages the campaigns use.
  3. TestRun ad copy and offers against each other and keep what wins.
  4. ScaleAdd budget only where extra spend is still bringing in customers.
Had some issues with my Google Ads performance. Jeremy reviewed and found the issues very quickly, now getting affordable, quality leads. Highly recommend!

Common questions

What does a Google Ads consultant do?

A Google Ads consultant works out what your campaigns should be buying, then fixes what's stopping them. That covers tracking, goals, structure, search terms, ads, landing pages and budgets.

Should I use Performance Max?

Sometimes. It can work well with clear goals and good conversion data, but it can also take credit for brand searches you'd have won anyway. We check the channel and search terms reports before deciding.

How many conversions does Google need?

For lead generation, Google suggests the action you bid on has at least 15 conversions across the account in the last 30 days, and usually happens in the first week after the ad interaction.

Do you work with businesses outside Sydney?

Yes. I'm based in Sydney and Uppercut Digital works with businesses across Australia. Most of the work runs on data and video calls.

Will I work with you directly?

I lead on strategy, and specialists at Uppercut handle much of the delivery. If you have a preference, tell me when you get in touch.

Do you guarantee results?

No. Nobody controls the auction or your market. We commit to the plan, the reporting and being straight about what's working.
